The Sova Chamber of Commerce is business and professional people united to enhance, promote and serve the businesses and educational community. It provides the leadership to advocate and assist in implementing solutions to problems not only in the local community, but statewide.
Who we are...
The Sova Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary organization of businesses and individuals who strive to improve the economic climate of our community. It is a civic clearinghouse, a public relations counselor and a legislative representative for our members.
The Chamber is run by a Board of Directors, elected by the Chamber’s members. The Board sets the policies, and employs an administrator who is responsible for the day-to-day operation.
The Chamber has approximately 650 members consisting of business owners, managers, government officials, school representatives, retirees, and concerned citizens who all strive to improve the quality of life and business climate in our community. We have a nationally recognized partnership with the public school system, regular participation from the mayor and city council, and a strong involvement with our members.
The Chamber provides concrete resources for businesses that will support growth and enhance profitability. The Tri Cities and Surrounding Counties are a fast growing community. The Chamber is committed to promoting the region as a good business location, and to increasing the economic success of its member firms.
Recognizing the need to have a ready workforce and to promote school-to-work experiences for students and teachers, our Chamber has joined hands with the school systems through a dedicated partnership.
Job shadowing, job fairs, apprenticeships, summer internships, and career days are all an integral part of the program. The high level of success of the school partnership program has been recognized throughout the state.

Colonial Heights, Virginia
The City of Colonial Heights is located 20 minutes south of Richmond, 5 minutes from Fort Lee and just about 2 hours from the beach or the mountains.
The population of the city is 17,820 people.
1500 businesses have planted their roots here.

Our city is rich in history, make sure to come and visit Violet Bank, General Lee used this building as a headquarters during the civil war. Outside in the yard of violet bank is one of the oldest and largest cucumber trees in the United States. Swift Creek Mill is located on the northern end of the city and is now the home of many plays and theatrical events. The Old Brick House, which was built in 1685 is considered to be the oldest brick house in Virginia. Fort Clifton was a confederate stronghold on the Appomattox River. Shepard Stadium was built to house recreational Baseball games and is currently under renovation and host some major college games.
South Park mall and shopping centers are the premiere shopping destinations for the tri-cities area. Located right off exit 54 it is the retail hub for the area. The city also has several specialty shops located in the Pickwick shopping center, Dunlop Shopping center, and along the Boulevard.

Petersburg, Virginia
Petersburg is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia in the United States.
As of the 2010 census, the population was 32,420. The Bureau of Economic Analysis combines Petersburg with Dinwiddie County for statistical purposes.
The city is 21 miles south of the commonwealth capital city of Richmond.
The Petersburg Area has a firm place in our nation’s history books. From the founding of the Citie of Henricus in 1611 in Chesterfield County to Revolutionary and Civil War battles fought in Petersburg, the area was destined to become a place of importance in Virginia and American history. Situated along the James River and at the confluence of the James and Appomattox rivers, the Petersburg Area played a significant role in our nation’s early days and continues to be a region of great historic, commercial and economic importance.
Dinwiddie County embraces it’s rich history while positioning itself as a wonderful place to call home.
Dinwiddie County was established May 1, 1752. Dinwiddie is only 25 miles south of Richmond, the state capital, and 140 miles south of Washington, DC, the nation’s capital.
Dinwiddie is governed by a five member Board of Supervisors and a County Administrator. The life-style of the county is ideally suited for family living. With a land area of 504 square miles, Dinwiddie is a blend of suburban and rural living, within two hours of the Virginia beaches and mountains.
Agriculture contributes significantly to our economy and to the quality of life enjoyed in Dinwiddie County. Beautiful Lake Chesdin is located along the northern boundary of Dinwiddie County. Dinwiddie County is a prime tourist destination in the region, serving as home to the Pamplin Historical Park and the National Museum of the Civil War Soldier, which is recognized as one of America's premier historical attractions and as the most innovative Civil War history park in the country. Dinwiddie County is recognized as the home to more Civil War battles in the United States. Additionally, the Virginia Motorsports Park (VMP) calls Dinwiddie County home and is the only park of its kind on the east coast.
Sports tourism is on the rise in Dinwiddie. The county recently completed the first phase of development of the Diwiddie County Sports Complex. The Complex is rapidly establishing itself as a premier destination for sports, in fact it is the only venue of its kind in the region, complete with fields for baseball, football, soccer and a centrally located state-of-the art concessions facility.
